SABANEWSINDO.com – Rafael Nadal sudah melakoni momentum comeback ke lapangan hijau setelah sebelumnya menjalani istirahat panjang karena masalah cedera. Terlepas dari hasil di papan skor, petenis Spanyol itu senang dengan momen yang dijalaninya tersebut.
Seperti diketahui, Nadal comeback di ajang Brisbane International, setelah 348 hari absen karena cedera. Peraih 22 gelar Grand Slam tersebut juga dijadwalkan akan ambil bagian di Australia Open, yang akan dimulai pada pertengahan Januari ini.
Nadal sendiri tak berharap banyak terkait hasil yang bisa dicapainya kala mengikuti turnamen dalam waktu dekat. Dia menekankan bahwa fokusnya saat ini adalah menemukan rasa nyaman untuk bisa bermain lagi.
“Bahkan jika saya tahu bahwa segalanya hampir mustahil setelah semua hal yang saya lalui, usia saya dan semua hal yang dimiliki tubuh saya – jika di dalam diri saya tidak memiliki perasaan dan motivasi atau harapan bahwa saya dapat terus berjuang untuk sesuatu yang benar-benar memotivasi saya, mungkin saya tidak akan mempersiapkan musim seperti ini,” kata pemain asal Spanyol itu kepada BBC Sport sebelum Brisbane International.
“Saya mencoba untuk menempatkan diri saya pada posisi yang dalam beberapa bulan ke depan saya akan siap berkompetisi untuk hal-hal yang ingin saya perjuangkan.”
Sejaun ini, tidak ada tanda-tanda yang bisa menghambatnya untuk bermain. Nadal berlatih dengan baik, pinggulnya telah pulih dan meskipun kondisi degeneratif yang mempengaruhi kaki kirinya selalu menimbulkan kekhawatiran serius, ia tampak bersemangat menyambut kompetisi tahun ini.

“Kaki adalah masalah yang berkelanjutan selamanya,” lanjutnya.
“Tapi, kalau boleh jujur, hari ini saya baik-baik saja. Saya tidak punya banyak masalah. Saya bisa berlatih dan menikmati setiap latihan, dan itu yang penting bagi saya lebih dari menang atau kalah – rasakan saja sendiri bahwa bermain tenis dalam artian kesakitan bukanlah sebuah drama.
“Apa yang membuat saya merasa takut, dan berpikir untuk pensiun, adalah semua masalah yang saya alami sehari-hari.”
“Saya bukan orang yang hidupnya hanya tenis,” kata Nadal.
“Saya pikir itu sangat membantu. Saya punya banyak hal di luar tenis yang membuat saya bahagia. Saya punya banyak proyek yang akan membuat saya merasa aktif, dan akan memotivasi saya untuk mengeksplorasi berbagai hal.
“Tetapi, tentu saja, ketika Anda mengubah sesuatu dalam hidup Anda – apa pun – itu adalah proses yang Anda perlukan untuk beradaptasi.
“Segala sesuatunya tidak mudah ketika Anda berhenti melakukan sesuatu yang telah Anda lakukan hampir sepanjang hidup Anda. Namun saya tidak takut akan hal itu.”
